Riverfront Park Loop

Difficulty: Easy

The Riverfront Park loop is a delightful 1.7-mile trail, perfect for a quick and easy outdoor escape. This gentle route, taking about 30 minutes to complete, offers a mix of paved paths, soccer and ball fields, and charming gravel trails through Riverfront Park. It’s a great place to hike, bike, run, or walk — open year-round for visits. Leashed dogs are welcome and, in some areas, can even roam off-leash.

Red Trail Lollipop Loop

Difficulty: Easy

The Red Trail Lollipop Loop is a tranquil 2.2-mile trail offering an easy-going route. For most, it takes about one hour to traverse, looping through Florence Kuipers Park and Morris Canal Trail. We love this loop during April and May when the landscape is the most vibrant. Dogs are welcome but should be kept on a leash.

Cardiac Loop Trail

Difficulty: Moderate

The Cardiac Loop Trail is a moderately challenging, 3.2-mile hike that typically takes around 90 minutes to complete. It’s a great trail to birdwatch, hike, or just enjoy a stroll, especially during the early morning hours of the day. Enjoy the park from April through October, along with the variety of wildlife that thrives there. Leashed dogs are welcome as well.

Schooley’s Mountain Loop

Difficulty: Moderate

The Schooley’s Mountain Loop Trail is a 2.6-mile loop known for its moderate challenge and rewarding scenery. It takes about 90 minutes to complete and is a favorite among birders, hikers, and rock climbers. We recommend visiting between March and November, as you’ll be treated to stunning views, the picturesque gorge, and even waterfalls! There are many scenic benches to relax and some steep sections to keep your heart pumping. Dogs are welcome but must be kept on a leash.

  • Distance from High Street: 3.3 miles 
  1. Orange Switchback, White, and Blue Loop

Difficulty: Challenging 

The Orange Switchback, White, and Blue Loop is an invigorating 8.2-mile trail designed for more seasoned adventurers. The challenging route takes about 3.5 hours to complete, offering a rewarding experience for backpacking, camping, and hiking enthusiasts. The trail is moderately flat and features a mix of well-maintained surfaces. It can be popular, but it is also a great place to find solitude during off-peak hours. We recommend checking it out during October so you can see the leaves changing.

Mt. Tammany Red Dot Trail 

Difficulty: Challenging

The Mt. Tammany Red Dot Trail is a thrilling 3.6-mile loop near Pahaquarry, NJ. Known for its challenging terrain, this trail typically takes around 2 hours and 20 minutes to complete and offers some of the most stunning vistas in the region. A fan favorite among hikers, you’ll be treated to the pleasant views of the Delaware Water Gap, making the effort worthwhile. Dogs are welcome but must be kept on a leash.
