Morris Canal Greenway

The Morris Canal Greenway preserves parts of the historic route of the Morris Canal across northern New Jersey. When it was in operation in the 1800s, this historic route was used to transport coal from Pennsylvania to New Jersey. At its height, the route spanned six counties.

Sections of the Morris Canal Greenway are preserved to offer visitors a journey through the region’s industrial past. While the entire 111-mile route is not a continuous path across the state, preservationists and advocates are working toward that eventual goal. Both Florence Kuipers Park and Mount Rascal Park are alongside the Morris Canal Greenway.

You can catch the Morris Canal Greenway trailhead in Hackettstown, just 2 minutes and less than a mile from our dispensary.

Know before you go: public consumption laws in New Jersey

At High Street, we always encourage the safe, legal consumption of all cannabis products. Keep these rules in mind before you enjoy your park adventure:

  • Don’t smoke in the park. Consuming cannabis is not allowed in New Jersey parks. Enjoy your products on private property before heading out to the park of your choice.
  • Get a ride. Never drive a car after consuming cannabis. Ask someone to be the designated driver, or call a rideshare or taxi to get from place to place.
  • Enjoy the park safely. Pick an activity that matches the vibe, like a nice walk on a trail or enjoying music while laid out on a picnic blanket. If you’re consuming cannabis, it’s a good idea to skip high-intensity activities that require serious coordination and concentration.
  • Bring water. Stay hydrated for an enjoyable time outdoors, especially if you’ve consumed before arriving at the park.
